“Courage is what it takes
to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.” -Winston Churchill
God’s angel, Gabriel came to
Zacharias to say that Zacharias and his wife, Elizabeth were going to have a
baby. Being that Elizabeth was not
of child bearing years, Zacharias asked a reasonable question: “How shall I
know this? For I am an old man, and
my wife is very advanced in years.”
In other words, Zacharias was saying, “Oh yeah right!” It’s because Zacharias’s words
were not in agreement with God, that Gabriel decided to mute him until the baby
arrived. After the baby
(John The Baptist) came, I’m sure by now Zacharias had learned an important
lesson: If God says it, then that settles it. Likewise, just maybe God wants to do something new in us
too, but we have to be in agreement with what His Word says. Believe that “With God all things
are possible” (Matt. 19:26) and that “God knows how to give good gifts to His
children” (Matt. 7:11), and don’t talk yourselves out of His blessings. Get in agreement with God,
and watch Him come through for you.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue…. (Proverbs 18:21, ESV).
