“All of us, at certain moments of our
lives, need to take advice and to receive help from other people.” -Alexis Carrel
Judah had long been a conquest of
Babylon until Persia conquered Babylon. The king, Cyrus, decreed Judah could rebuild the Lord’s
Temple that Babylon destroyed. If
that wasn’t enough King Cyrus also supplied them with some 5,000 pieces of gold
and silver that Babylon stole from the temple. God touched a pagan king’s heart to have compassion on Judah
and carry out His divine plan.
Judah learned a lesson that is universally true you and me, too: the
people that will help us are sometimes those we’d least expect. God can use people with different cultural
backgrounds, political views and religious experiences to come along side you
to achieve His greater plan. Be open to whatever God wants to
do and He will bless you.
Commit
to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans
(Proverbs 16:3, NIV).
