“Faith makes all things
possible... love makes all things easy.” -Dwight L. Moody
If we’ve loved a girlfriend or wife, we know how necessary
it is to take time to get to know her.
From this knowledge, we learn her likes and dislikes, and eventually
this knowledge informs our actions.
We have a general pattern of pleasing her, because we both love her and
know her. This illustration is
also how we ought to love God. The
Apostle Paul depicts that our love of God should produce a desire to know God, learning
what pleases and displeases Him.
Knowledge of God (learnt in the Bible), informs each and every decision
we make, thus producing righteousness (pure and blameless living), bringing all
glory to God (Phil. 1:9-11). To
recap, here’s what a love of God produces: love --> knowledge --> righteousness --> glory to God.
Whoever does not love
God does not know God, because God is love (1 John 4:8, ESV).
