“Through hard work,
perseverance and a faith in God, you can live your dreams.” -Benjamin Carson
Daniel always worked with excellence, but his Jewish customs
irritated his prejudice Babylonian coworkers. They were jealous of Daniel, believing that a Jew had no
place in their industry. Consequently,
Daniel was slandered, manipulated, used, and betrayed. Worse, his coworkers schemed against
him to have him thrown into the lion’s den for exercising his faith (something he could not relent on).
Yet Daniel maintained that he would do his best and honor God
anyway. It’s no wonder that God delivered
Daniel from the lion’s den, and promoted him to ruler over the province of Babylon. Likewise, we have to work with excellence and honor God in spite of whoever is against us. Others may or may not give you
recognition for your work, but you still have reason to celebrate your own work
when you’ve done your best.
Whatever
you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men (Col.
3:23, ESV).
