“Chance is always powerful. Let your hook be always cast; in the pool, where you least
expect it, there will be a fish.”
-Ovid
Peter was a fisherman whom hadn’t caught a fish the entire
day. Jesus, who he did not yet
know, approached him on the shore to encourage him to go deeper into the water
to cast his nets. He took a chance
on Jesus, and sure enough, his nets became filled with fish. It’d have been all too easy for Peter
to talk himself out of exploring this opportunity, because he believed there
was little chance he’d succeed. Peter’s
lesson is true for us: we have to take chances in life to really experience the
fullness of God’s favor. Look for an
opportunity that you might otherwise pass by and take a chance on it.
Make
the most of every opportunity… (Eph. 5:16, NLT).
