“The first wealth is health.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson
The other day I grocery shopped
with my friends to show them which foods are healthiest. After I explained why I choose to eat a
clean diet of fruits, vegetables, complex carbohydrates, lean proteins, and quality
non-animal fats—they asked me if I enjoy what I eat. I responded by saying that healthy foods are an acquired
taste. Now my body craves healthy
foods because I’ve seen significant improvements in my stamina, physique, and
brain function. Likewise, righteousness
is an acquired taste that makes us spiritually healthy. Live right and watch this positively affect
your relationships, decision-making and morale. Eventually you may even crave it!
Blessed
are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied
(Matthew 5:6, ESV).
