“There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, “Thy
will be done,” and those to whom God says, “All right, then, have it your way.”
-C.S.
Lewis
Saul was chosen to be King of
Israel, and while he served God for a short time, he didn’t over the long
haul. David was chosen to replace
Saul as king, and although he wasn’t perfect, he served God his entire life. As a result Israel prospered and David’s
lineage produced Jesus, the King of kings some 1,000 years later. Here’s my point: When we choose to live
for God there are both short-term and long-term benefits. The sacrifices you make now are not in vain;
it’ll pay off for you and your children and grandchildren, too.
Commit
your actions to the LORD, and your plans will succeed (Proverbs
16:3, NLT).
