“I’m not a guy that’s going to brag…” –Kevin Durant
Paul wrote the church leaders of Corinth to defend his
ministry. He let them know that he
didn’t have to brag about his moral authority (which was God-ordained),
credentials (and they were many), or even his hardships (a very long
list). Rather Paul could only brag
about his weakness that made him more dependent on Christ and only in Christ
did his weakness make him strong. Here’s
the point: A problem with bragging is really an issue of pride. Any blessing that does not turn into
praise turns into pride. We could
brag about how humble we think we are and even that’s pride. Every good thing comes from God so
let’s brag on God for all that He’s done.
Whoever
brags must brag about what the Lord has done (1 Corinthians 1:31, GWT).
