“Sir, my concern is not whether God is
on our side; my greatest concern is to be on God's side, for God is always
right.” -Abraham Lincoln
Abraham and Sarah prayed for a son for 99 years, yet when an
angel appeared to Abraham and said that Sarah would have a son, she doubted
God’s promise by laughing and saying, “I’m too old” (Gen. 18:12). Before you get too disappointed
with Sarah, I ask you how often you doubt God’s promise for your life. The Scripture says that in God’s
presence there is fullness of joy, yet you may doubt this because you rarely if
ever feel happy. You know that
God’s Word says that you’re forgiven, but you often doubt this because you
wrestle with guilt. You know that
God’s plans are to prosper you, but you doubt this because you’re still paying
back student loan debt. Whatever
your situation may be, I encourage you to hold on close to God’s promises found
in His Word. Spoiler alert: Sarah
had the baby. Like Sarah we have
to do all that we can in the natural while trusting God to then do the
supernatural.
Trust in the
Lord with all your heart
and do not lean on your own understanding (Proverbs 3:5,
NASB).
