Up until a point, Moses had to
deal with all of the trivial quarrels in his tribe (Exodus 18). Moses’ father-in-law suggested however
that Moses delegate more trivial matters to others so that he could focus on
the bigger decisions that needed to be made. It turns out that this was exactly what Moses needed to
hear. Because Moses was able to
take constructive criticism from a mentor, he was thus able to lead more
effectively. You too need to
submit yourself to a mentor that will take the time to get to know you—whether
be a coworker, friend, or family member so that you can learn from them and
grow to be who God called you to be.
Likewise, you who are younger, be
subject to the elders (1 Peter 5:5, ESV).
