Maximize to Multiply

Jesus tells a parable of three servants who are each given varying amounts of talents (or currency) by their master.  He gave the first servant five talents, the other servant two talents, and the last servant one talent. I want you to imagine that the material talents the master gave them are just as the special talents and abilities God gives us.  The first and second servants are given varying amounts, and the second servant could have said, “You gave him more so I’m not going to do anything.”  Instead he like the first maximized what he was given so that he multiplied it.  The last servant, however, did something remarkable.  He buried his talents.  He was given the least of them so he thought it would be better to not even try. What if his one talent could have made him the next Mechelangelo? A Nobel Piece Prize Winner?  We don’t know.  Somewhere along in his life, he let his dreams die and he no longer believed in himself. To him the master the master could do nothing with, but to the first two the master said, “Well done my good and faithful servants.”  God did not give us talents and abilities to bury them.  At the end of our lives when we stand before God we also want to hear Him say, “Well done.”  Light a fire in your belly and dream again.  Maximize whatever God gives you so that you multiply it. 

His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’ (Matthew 25:23, NLT)
