“Let us not be satisfied with just
giving money. Money is not enough, money can be got, but they need your hearts
to love them.” -Mother Teresa
Jesus was with his disciples and they watched people give in
the temple. They saw that the
Pharisees had given their leftovers but the widow had given her life savings. The
Pharisees were showy, but the woman sacrificed. The widow had given two mites (which wasn’t much), but Jesus
said that she’d given the most. This
Scripture isn’t so much about money as it is about the state of the heart. Don’t hold back on God so that He won’t
hold back blessing and favor on you.
Even when you don’t feel you have much to give – serve sacrificially, love
deeper, give what you have – and smile while you’re doing it. Invest the whole heart instead of just a
part and your reward will come from the Lord.
For they have given a tiny part of their
surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she has (Luke 21:4, NLT).
