“Determination gives you the resolve
to keep going in spite of the roadblocks that lay before you.” -Denis Waitley
Daniel, a Jewish slave turned Babylonian statesman
had a formula for success: pray three times a day. Daniel wasn’t shy about his faith, he got down on his
knees by his apartment window where everyone could see. Due to his talent, hard work and
devotion to God he found favor with the king. Eventually Daniel was in line for a promotion over many
Babylonian statesmen. Infuriated
that a Jew could rise to the top of government, the only way these statesmen could
sabotage David is if they made a law that Daniel couldn’t obey; he would no
longer be allowed to pray. Instead he’d have to worship the king. Daniel kept praying in his window like
he always had, so the king’s hands were tied and he regretfully had no choice
but to throw Daniel into the lion's den.
Saddened, the king checked on Daniel the next morning to find there
wasn’t a scratch on him! The king ordered that Daniel be taken out of the den and those that tried to sabotage him be thrown in. Daniel got the promotion and he never quit praying! If you don’t
have a consistent conversation time with God then start for just a couple of
minutes a day. If you already pray
then determine to continue seeking God in spite of whatever you may face in the
day to see success.
