“If you keep doing what you’ve always done, you’ll keep
getting what you’ve always got.” –W.L. Bateman
If your faith is in your own ability to overcome addiction,
to give forgiveness, to love someone that hates you—eventually your morality
may fail you. You succumb again to
going to that website. Suppressed
anger festered in your heart for years suddenly causes you to explode. You tried loving but instead you
reciprocate another’s hate. GOOD
NEWS: Christ didn’t come 2000 years ago to be a self-help guru only to leave
you alone to fix yourself, Christ came to save the world and deposit His Spirit
in you to help you overcome sin.
It’s a matter of admitting your weakness, learning to rely on Christ’s
strength. If you’ve fought your
demons alone, ask Christ into your heart, because only He has the power to
save.
For
the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships,
persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong (2
Timothy 12:10, ESV).
