“Surround yourself with only people
who are going to lift you higher.” -Oprah Winfrey
Hang around with people who continually dump their sob
stories on you—someone was talking about them again or they got another speeding
ticket—and you begin to feel heavy.
Like most people you probably have your own problems. A harmonious friendship is like a
seesaw: sometime you’ll be up and you’ll have to pick your friend up, but
others times you’ll be down and they’ll have to pick you up. Spend time with people who elevate you,
that put a smile on your face, and that make you want to be better.
Make no friendship with a man given to anger, nor go with a wrathful
man, lest you learn his ways and entangle yourself in a snare (Proverbs 22:24-25, ESV).
