“I will not like you all the same, but I will love you all
the same.” -John Wooden
When someone hurts you, then you may not be the type of
person that would ever retaliate.
Instead your silent hate for that individual stews within you, causing
you to sulk for many years. In
John 3:15 Jesus declares, “Anyone who hates another brother or sister is really
a murderer at heart.” Hating the
person that hurt you is just as bad as actually hurting them back, because when
you hate then you are not hurting them; you only hurt yourself. This is why it is essential that you
learn to forgive that person even if they never apologized. Forgiveness does not mean you have to
like them, but it does entail that you love them.
But
I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!
(Matthew 5:44, NLT).
