“Rather the pain of discipline, than the pain of regret.”
- Bob Andrews
When weight lifting the spotter
(the person watching over the lifter) is vital to the strength gains of the
lifter. The spotter’s duty is to
protect the lifter from hurting himself by dropping the weight; and also to
propel the lifter to push himself through pain. With a spotter the lifter can do more than he could do on
his own. Gimme a spot, bro! In a spiritual sense, God isn’t all
that different than a spotter. We
need God’s protection, sometimes from ourselves. When we are weak we also need God to give us the strength
that propels us through pain. As Christians we can’t begin to grow without God.
I
can do all things through him who strengthens me
(Philippians 4:13, ESV).
