“We can't all be Washingtons, but we can all be
patriots.” -Charles F. Browne
Olympic athletes can do things
that a normal human being can’t. Every
two years we watch them make the impossible, possible, by breaking records and
winning for their respective countries.
When a US athlete wins the gold, we cheer because we know that the athlete
represents all Americans. Thus
their victory is our victory. Similarly,
there isn’t a single person on this earth who is without sin. Nobody was therefore qualified to die for
the world’s sins, but Someone perfect: Jesus Christ. Therefore, Christ represents those who choose to believe in
Him. When Christ conquered sin on
the cross, we did too! It’s no
wonder that when I think of what Christ did for me, I get excited. I cheer for Christ, because His victory
is our victory.
So we
are Christ's ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for
Christ when we plead, "Come back to God!" (2
Corinthians 5:20, NLT).
