“The devilish strategy of pride is that it attacks us, not
in our weakest point, but in our strongest. It is preeminently the sin of a noble mind.” –Dorothy Sayers
If we’re not cautious then we can consciously or
subconsciously distort our callings to revolve around our dreams, plans,
wishes, titles, and achievements. However,
a calling is never about you or me; it’s about the One who is doing the
calling. This entails that in whatever
we do, we give the glory to God. Human
nature makes it possible to turn something initially noble into narcissism,
whether be in the medical profession or pulpit ministry. In other words, we can do the right
things for the wrong reasons. This
is pride, one of the seven deadly sins.
Today ask God to renew your mind and heart so that you have your eyes
set on nothing else but Him.
Therefore humble yourselves [demote, lower yourselves in your own
estimation] under the mighty hand of God, that in due time He may exalt you (1 Peter 5:6,
AMP).
