“The elevator to success is out of
order. You’ll have to take the
stairs… one step at a time.” -Joe
Girard
If you’ve ever run football stadium
bleachers before to improve your running speed, the best indicator to gauge
whether you’re improving is time.
Running takes discipline because if you go too fast too soon you tire
yourself out, but you also don’t want to go too slow or you underachieve. The happy medium is a running rate that
you do consistently each day, while gradually striving to improve your pace. Likewise, if God gives you a vision,
pray for the discipline to carry it out. If you go too fast too early you get tired, but if you go too
slow you lag behind God. Find just
the right pace, and work towards realizing your vision each day. Once you’re proficient at that pace, accelerate
the speed by taking on more responsibility. Trust that when God gives you a vision then He will also give
you the vitality to realize it.
So run
to win! All athletes are
disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away,
but we do it for an eternal prize (1 Corinthians 9:25).
