“Read to achieve.”
–LeBron James
Question: How do you eat an elephant? Answer: One bite at a time. To many people reading the entire Bible
in a year is an intimidating feat.
If you try reading the Bible in a couple of months, then like most
people you’re eating too fast and forgetting to chew your food. The Word is a delicacy; each scripture is
to be savored. On the other hand, if
you read too little then you fail to nourish yourself. You’re hungry and you wonder why. Instead find a pace that you can live
with, maybe two chapters a day, and when you see that you’re able to retain
what you’ve read (and put it into practice), then you’re ready to read more. The Bible is God’s autobiography, and your
goal in reading it is to get to know Him so that you can become more like
Him.
Study this book of
instruction continually. Meditate
on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed
in all you do (Joshua 1:8, NIV).
