“There are only two kinds of men: the righteous who think they are
sinners and the sinners who think they are righteous.” –Blaise Pascal
If you are accustomed to a diet of Big Macs and French Fries,
it’s harder to appreciate a spinach salad with carrots and tomatoes: even
though you know it’s good for you, it just doesn’t taste all that good—at
first. The more you practice
healthy habits, overtime you acquire a taste for it and you begin to crave
it. Similarly, when you are used
to a lifestyle of living in sin, it’s difficult to desire righteousness: even
though you know its good for you spiritually, it just isn’t as sweet as sin—at
first. The more you practice righteous
habits, overtime you acquire a taste for it and you begin to crave it. There is nothing sweeter than being pure
and holy in the sight of God.
He
who is steadfast in righteousness will attain to life, and he who pursues evil
will bring about his own death (Proverbs 11:19, NASB).
