“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive,
and go do that, because what the world needs is people who have come
alive.” -Howard Thurman (civil
rights leader)
We are each called out of the darkness of sin and into the
light of righteousness; we were spiritually dead and now we have life in
Christ. This is our first
objective as Christians.
Thereafter God’s will sometimes seems opened-ended: We are to glorify
God in whatever we do (1 Corinthians 10:31, NIV)—you may ask, “but what am I to
do?” You may not know just yet. The real world may need engineering
majors, but you can’t help but find law stimulating. A business degree may make you more marketable, but this may
not be the best way for you to market God.
“Wake up,
sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you” (Ephesians 5:14).
