“We have enough religion to make us
hate, but not enough to make us love one another.” –Jonathan Swift (Irish satirist)
Many Christians hear and apply the expression, “Hate sin;
love the sinner.” Today however some
show more love to non-believers living in sin than to believers that
doctrinally disagree with their interpretation of Scripture. Did Matthew agree with Mark on every
theological issue? or Peter with Paul?
The short answer is no: and sometimes this may have had more to do with
their personalities than doctrine.
We always stand for truth, but let’s pray for discernment in picking our
disagreements.
Whoever
does not love does not know God, because God is love (John 4:8, NLT).
