“The same everlasting Father who cares for you today will take care of you tomorrow, and every day. Either He will shield you from suffering, or He will give you unfailing strength to bear it…” -St. Francis de Sales
Often in life, we go through circumstances that challenge
our faith in God. Perhaps it is an unexpected
layoff, or a business deal that did not go through, or people that we had
thought that we could trust proved to be untrustworthy, or maybe a child gets their
self into trouble or a spouse gets sick. Naturally, these circumstances can feel crushing,
but we cannot lose our hope in a God that is firmly in control. We must trust that as children of God, He will
keep His Word to always work all things for the good and give us peace that will
surpass all understanding. We must all
commit that even if God does not turn our circumstances around on our timelines,
or at all for that matter, that our faith in Him is never contingent on what He
does for us but on Who He is. Let us
pray today that we would have unshakable faith so that in everything, even in suffering,
Christ is glorified because we remain faithful and that others would come to
know Him by watching how we responded to suffering.
You will
keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in
you (Isaiah 26:3, NIV).
