“Obedience is our responsibility; outcome is God’s.” –Craig Groeschel
Israel and Judah were at war with Moab, but unfortunately
they’d run out of water. Kings
Ahab and Jehoshaphat called on the prophet Elisha to ask God for rain. Elisha told them to dig ditches, and
then God would fill the valley with water. The kings asked for a blessing, and God gave them a work
order. Maybe this request seemed
somewhat unusual, but the kings got to digging and God filled their land. The lesson for them is true for us: hard
work and obedience go hand and hand with God’s favor. We too must dig our ditches to see God do what only He can
do.
He then said, “God’s word: Dig ditches all over this valley…” (2 Kings 3:16, MSG)
