“In every encounter
we either give life or we drain it; there is no neutral
exchange.” – Brennan Manning
Ezekiel came upon a valley of dry
bones (Ezek. 37). Not only was the
valley dead, but also the valley was dry, meaning it had been dead for a long
time. God then told Ezekiel to
prophesy (speak life to) the bones.
When Ezekiel spoke life, the bones rattled, flesh and skin appeared, and
breath came. What was dead was now
very much alive. The lesson for
Ezekiel is also true for you and me, too: sometimes we have to speak life into
a dead situation. Maybe your
situation looks hopeless, but God is Jehovah Rapha (our Healer),
and He raises the dead to life. Anybody
can describe their dead situation; fewer have the audacity to speak
life to it. Speaking life always requires faith, and faith activates God’s
power.
Death
and life are in the power of the tongue... (Proverbs 18:21, ESV).
