“It’s the things that no one sees that produce the results
everyone wants.” -Steven Furtick
By the time I reached the second grade, it was very evident
that I had a learning disability, A.D.D. (Attention Deficit Disorder). For me this meant that if there was any
outside noise, I could no longer pay attention to the teacher or assignments.
Eventually this affected me so much that my parents took me to a specialist who
spent hours training me every day to shut out the outside noise. While my friends played after school, I
went to tutoring (which obviously isn’t how most 8-year-olds wanted to spend
their time). This specialist, while I
attempted to study, trained me with a series of disruptions that eventually I
become so used to that they no longer fazed me. I learned focus, and without any medication I might add. I say with certainty that I wouldn’t be
where I am without putting in those hours and hours of training each and every
day. Likewise, to do whatever it
is God has called you to do, it may be those hard moments in life, the early
mornings and late nights behind the scenes, that prepare you for the grander
stage God has already set for you.
For
we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do
the good things he planned for us long ago (Ephesians 2:10, ESV).
