“Truth is like the sun. You can shut
it out for a time, but it ain't goin' away.” -Elvis Presley
King Ahab of Israel had 400 false
prophets tell him that he’d win in battle, but before King Jehoshaphat of Judah
would align himself with Israel he said, “Let’s find out what the Lord says” (2
Chon. 18:4). The prophet Micaiah
was called upon and told to agree that the king would have victory. Micaiah said, “I will say only what God
says.” Micaiah prophesied that the king would die and Israel would lose. Micaiah was imprisoned and his prophecy
was proven correct. The lesson for Micaiah is for you and me, too: there is no greater freedom than telling what is true. God needs a new
generation of truth-tellers willing to risk everything for the sake of the
gospel. Boldly tell others what
God’s Word says and through you God will change the world.
And
you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free
(John 8:32, ESV).
