“What seems to be generosity is often
no more than disguised ambition, which overlooks a small interest in order to
secure a great one.” -Francois de La Rochefoucauld
We can do right things for the
wrong reasons. If you flaunt your
giving to look like you’re generous and inform everybody each time you serve—then
your motivation is misguided. Don’t
look for a reward from men; your reward will come from the Lord. Every time you give, each time you
serve, God sees you and He’ll abundantly bless you.
But when you give to someone in need, don’t let your left
hand know what your right hand is doing
(Matt. 6:3, NLT).
