“You take the leading role, and I’ll play the
background.” -Lacrae
Deborah was the first and only female Judge of Israel (she
was Margaret Thatcher). She was a
counselor, warrior, prophetess, and the wife of Lapidoth. It’s been said that behind every good
man there’s a strong woman, but in this scenario behind the woman there’s a
strong man. Judges 4:4 is the only
mention of Lapidoth, but that’s fine by him. We can assume Lapidoth recognized and valued that God was
using his wife so he played the background while she took the leading role. Consequently, Deborah led Israel to
victory over their enemies. Make
no mistake about it that this victory was just as much Lapidoth’s as it was Deborah’s
because he supported her through good times and bad. Here’s my point: We each must play the background so that
Christ can have the spotlight. If
we play by God’s script, glorifying Him, we’ll win. God will pour out His favor on us and fill your life with
immeasurable blessing.
Come,
let us tell of the LORD's greatness; let us exalt his name together
(Psalm 34:3, NLT).
Good thought!
