"My crown is called content, a crown
that seldom kings enjoy.” -William Shakespeare
David was
anointed to be king of Israel, but in the meantime he still had to shepherd sheep. He could’ve said, “God, I
thought you promised me a better life than this!” Instead David was just as content in a
shepherd’s field as he was in the king’s palace. David always wore a crown of contentment because he made the most of every season of life he was in. Likewise you too must find contentment in the
season of life you’re in. Whether you are single but praying for marriage,
you’re childless but wanting children, or you’re an entry-level worker asking
for a promotion—be content NOW. If
you can’t learn to be content in this season then what makes you think you’re
going to be content in the next when you get what you want but you also
get more responsibility? Ask God to help
you find contentment this season.
… for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. (Philippians 4:11, NLT)
