“There is no
success without hardship.” -Sophocles
King Nebuchadnezzar decreed that
Babylon must bow to worship the golden idol. Three Jews, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego refused to be
bullied into bowing. The King was
furious and he threatened them with a fiery furnace. The three Jews retorted that their God would rescue them,
but even if He didn’t, they would not bow. They were thrown into the fire, and much to king’s surprise,
he saw a fourth person he described as the “Son of God” (Dan 3:25). In the midst of the fire God was with
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego; just as He is with you through the fire you
face. The fire you face may be hot
and the smoke may be thick and you may not be able to see clearly, but know
that God will see you through.
The Lord your
God in your midst, The
Mighty One, will save (Zephaniah 3:17,
NKJV).
