“What psychologists refer to as
recoverability is the process by which people regain functioning after a
negative emotional event.” –Dr. Henry Cloud
Ruth had lost the one she loved
and become a widow (Ruth 1). Life
punched her in the gut and knocked her down on her butt, but she decided that
she wasn’t going to stay down for the count. After Ruth grieved her loss, she
chose to be faithful to God and work hard to provide for herself and her mother-in-law. Instead of spending the rest of her
life feeling sorry for herself, she embarked on new territory and God gave her
a strapping man named Boaz! How’s
that for recoverability? Life
happens to us all. The key for you
and me will be how quickly we recover motivation, hope, judgment, and drive
after something bad happens. Like
Ruth you have to embark on new territory so that God can bless you.
…that
you would bless me and enlarge my territory! (1 Chronicles 4:10, NIV)
