“The only people with whom you should try to get even are
those who have helped you.” -John E. Southard
David promised his best friend,
Jonathan, that he would always show kindness to his family (1 Sam. 20:
14-15). Jonathan’s father was Saul,
the angry king trying to kill David.
When David became king after Saul and Jonathan died in battle, he called
for Jonathan's son, Saul's grandson, Mephibosheth, to bless him for the sake of keeping that
promise to Jonathan (2 Sam. 9:6).
Just as God begins to bless you, never forget the people—friends,
parents, and teachers—who helped you along your way. Keep the promises you’ve made, remember to say thank you,
and watch God continue to bless you.
Do to
others as you would like them to do to you (Luke 6:31, NLT).
