“Nostalgia is not what it used to be.” -Simone Signoret
When the Israelites traded slavery in Egypt for the
uncertainty of a desert, some of them began to question whether they had it
better in Egypt. They forgot the
bad parts of their bondage, only remembering the food that they ate (Exod.
16). This is how nostalgia
can work with us. We begin to
paint a rosy picture of the past, glossing over the parts that we’d rather not
remember. However, to enter into
God’s destiny for your life, you must leave the past, and focus on where you’re
heading.
There is surely a future
hope for you…
(Proverbs 23:18 ESV).
