“I would really love to go on an
archaeological dig.” -Megan Fox
Today I participated in an
archeological dig for artifacts left behind from an ancient Judean civilization
dating back 2200 years ago. Fifty
feet down in the earth into the depths of a steep cave, I was thrilled when I
found a bone from a large animal and several pieces of pottery. Later I was disappointed to learn that
someone invited to participate in the dig, chose not to, simply because she did
not want to get dirty. The reality
is that this individual will never understand what she missed out on because
she chose to stay at the surface.
Telling her about this experience just isn’t the same as her actually
experiencing it for herself. There’s
a lesson to be learned: As soon as we get past reading the Bible at its surface
then we begin to find treasures that we never would have otherwise known
about. God has more for you; go
deeper.
Search
for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures
(Proverbs 2:4, NLT).
