“When you feel like giving up, remember why you held on so
long in the first place.” -Jared
Leto
Temptation is a time of testing. If you lack self-discipline then you will fail the test but
if you resist the urge to give in then you pass. The implications of failing a test will not only hinder you
from realizing God’s best in your life, but you also hinder those who look to
you for leadership. Perhaps they
no longer want to follow Christ because they can’t find any good Christians to
follow. They perceive all
Christians are hypocrites who don’t practice what they preach. On the other hand, when you exhibit self-discipline
in the small areas then God can trust you in the bigger areas. God gives you a greater platform to
glorify Him because you have shown that you have the self-discipline to handle
it.
But I keep under
my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have
preached to others, I myself should be a castaway (1 Corinthians
9:27, ESV).
