“The soul, like the body, lives by what it feeds on.” -J. G. Holland
Would you still eat cooked vegetables if you knew that
every time you boiled them they lost almost all of their nutritional value? People eat cooked vegetables that may
taste better, thinking they are eating “healthy,” but instead they eat roughage
with the vitamins and minerals cooked out. Raw vegetables on the other hand retain 100% of the
nutritional value. Similarly, as
Christians we may acquire a taste for watered down “Christianity.” Like the tasty vegetable substitute, we
would rather “feel good” than consume what our souls actually need, fully raw
Christianity. Today ask God for
friends that will rebuke you when you sin and challenge you to get your heart right with God. Ask God for
vitamin-packed teaching that will change you from the inside out when you
consume it. Let’s get our souls
healthy!
Beloved,
I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it
goes well with your soul (3 John 12, ESV).
