“Thou hast created us for Thyself, and our heart is not
quiet until it rests in Thee.” -Saint Augustine
Often people think that to spend quiet time with God they
read their Bibles, pray, and write in their journals. All of this is productive, but what if
quiet time literally means that you are quiet? Sometimes you can do nothing
more productive than to just stop and meditate on God. You might be surprised: listening to
the voice of God is a lot easier when you are not doing all of the talking.
Be still before
the Lord and wait patiently for him… (Psalm 37:7, ESV).
