“How few there are who have courage
enough to own their faults, or resolution enough to mend them.” -Benjamin
Franklin
Each year millions make resolutions
to become a ‘better person’. Some
people join a gym, but in week two quit going. Some say that they will begin eating healthier, but sporadic
late night Bluebell binges say otherwise. Likewise many say that they desire to draw closer to God, and
they mean this in the moment, but they aren’t willing to make the necessary sacrifices
to make this desire a reality. To
draw closer to God there is never an exact success formula, but there is always
a sacrifice. We all make decisions
every day that determines our destinies.
If you want to draw closer to God then you can’t afford to miss church each
week. Also decide that you won’t
allow yourself to fall back into the same sinful habits, because although sin
may taste good for a short while, it holds you back from your destiny.
But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if
you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul
(Deuteronomy 4:29, NIV).
