“God bless this mess.” -Sheryl Crow
I heard a story of an old ‘ma and
pa store’ in a small town, which embodied the owner’s life’s work. The outer walls were defaced by graphic
and vulgar graffiti, and in the midst of it was written: “God bless this mess.” Despite any tattered dreams, broken
hearts, fear, and misfortune—our mess—we each have the opportunity to boldly
approach God’s throne, laying all that we are at his feet to find hope.
Let us
then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy
and find grace to help us in our time of need. –Hebrews 4:16 (NIV)
