“Doing leads more surely to
talking than talking to doing.”
–Vance Havner
When
is the “right time” to talk with your non-Christian friends about Jesus?
Talk
to your friends as soon as the Holy Spirit leads you, and sometimes that means
right away if you believe they will be receptive to the gospel. Otherwise it's best that they see your
fruit first. They may think to
themselves: "There's just something different about her, hmmm..."
It's something intangible they can't really put their finger on, an X factor. You don't cuss; you’re not getting drunk
every weekend; or doing those things many do. You live in the joy and peace that comes from Jesus. You might even be a better friend to
them than their partying friends are.
That's when they ask you!--and that's when you tell them. Pray for
discernment, so that you choose your words carefully. The Holy Spirit inside
you will give you the words to speak, if you simply have the courage to speak
life.
Even if they aren't receptive to the gospel at first, you can never beat yourself up for giving someone the best gift in the world: Jesus! Their eternity is at stake. If they want to return the gift with the receipt, well, that's on them.

If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God (1 Peter 4:11, NIV).
