“I prayed for patience and understanding, but I quit. I was afraid I might get it.” -Lucy from “Peanuts”
George Washington Carver prayed for the secrets of the
universe: instead God gave him peanuts… literally. The peanut would now be switched out with cotton, soy beans, and sweet potatoes—so that these crops could all continue
to be grown and the soil would be replenished.
Carver, a black man, is credited with saving the south during the
Reconstruction Era after the Civil War, because he invented an alternative crop
scheme that helped a struggling nation heal.
Sometimes when you ask for everything, God may just give you
peanuts.
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer (Romans 12:12, NIV).
