“If the devil can’t make you bad, he’ll make you busy.” -Christian proverb
Imagine you’re a running back trying to pound the football
into the end zone; you’re prepared and you know the play to score the winning touchdown. The football is handed off to you—BOOM—and
the defense knocks you on your backside. When you pray, the devil plays defense, doing all it
can to stop you from reaching God: it will distract you by diverting your
attention to everything else you ‘need’ to do today, or better yet you will be
convinced that you’re too busy to pray at all.
Be
self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring
lion looking for someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8, NIV).
